Edward VII Park (Parque Eduardo VII) Tours
1 Review

Edward VII Park (Parque Eduardo VII) is Lisbon’s largest urban oasis and one of its most identifying landmarks. The meticulously manicured space features mosaic-patterned hedges and stellar views over the city and the Tagus River. Visitors and Lisboetas alike flock here to stroll, reflect, and snap Instagram-worthy photos.
The Basics
The 62-acre (25-hectare) Edward VII Park is characterized by the hedge-lined walkways that crisscross the green space. Set in an old quarry, this sloping park sits between the April 25th Monument and Pombal Square, and features a beautiful baroque-style pavilion and Estufa Fria, a greenhouse filled with exotic plants.
Travel on foot, by vehicle, or even via tuk-tuk to visit the park on a full-day or shorter private or group tour. Hop-on hop-off tour buses stop here too. Other destinations on these sightseeing tours may include Rossio Square (Praça do Rossio), Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa), the Chiado neighborhood, and Belem Tower (Torre de Belém).
Things to Know Before You Go
- Edward VII Park is ideal for all first-time visitors and anyone looking for a quiet respite from the bustle of central Lisbon.
- Wear comfortable shoes to explore the vast space.
- The park is free to enter. The greenhouses require a small entrance fee, though are free on Sundays before 2pm.
- Bring an umbrella or hat to shade yourself from the sun, as this park does not offer much coverage.
- The park is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
How to Get There
Edward VII Park lies north of Avenida da Liberdade in central Lisbon. Take the blue or yellow metro line to Marques de Pombal station or the blue line to Parque. Alternatively, ride bus 744, 207, 783, 726, or 746 to Marques de Pombal.
When to Get There
The park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The greenhouses are open daily from 10am to 7pm from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October, when opening hours change to 9am to 5pm. They are closed January 1, May 1, and December 25. Lisbon’s annual book fair is held here every year in June.
Visit the Carlos Lopes Pavilion
Named after the athlete who won Portugal’s first gold medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the Carlos Lopes Pavilion (Pavilhão Carlos Lopes) is a beautiful building filled with traditional blue-and-white ceramic tilework (azulejos). This building hosts a number of events and conferences throughout the year, and also features a permanent exhibit for Carlos Lopes himself. Visit this newly remodeled pavilion and its exhibitions for free every day from 10am to 6pm.
Address: Av. Sidonio Pais, Lisbon, Portugal
