The Basics

Fátima is second only to Lourdes in France as Europe’s most important pilgrimage site, with a history and culture that will fascinate the religious and nonreligious alike. While some Catholics opt to visit during a pilgrimage, you can also visit the town and its religious sites—particularly the Basilica de Fátima—on a day trip from Lisbon or Porto. Choose between a half-day tour to Fátima and a full-day sightseeing tour with stops at other historic points of interest. Guided tours often include stops at other points of interest, including Óbidos, Nazaré, and Batalha. Travelers pressed for time can see the town on a half-day tour.

Fatima, Nazare, Obidos full day tour
Our guide, Mira, was fun to be with. The tour she gave was quite informative and allowed us sufficient time to go around each stop (even allowed a little bit more for some). I think I will come back and spend longer time to some of the places we visited next time just to soak in. Nazare and Obidos are quite nice. I wish we had more time to see Nazare but it was all taken up by lunch- great food, though. No complaints here :-)

We had a fabulous day in Fatima with our guide Daniel. We learned so much from him and enjoyed his insights and company as well. We highly recommend this private tour. Seeing the houses of the children, the special places were the Angel of Peace spoke to the children, the shrines and ending with Mass made for a very special and memorable experience. Fátima private tour
My mom's dream was to visit Fátima and we booked this tour! Felipe was a great driver and guide, and his vehicle was very clean. He was knowledgeable, very friendly, and flexible. My mom has issues walking a lot, and he was able to accommodate and let us experience Fátima at our own pace. Just an overall incredible tour and experience, and I highly recommend everyone to book with them!! Thank you, Felipe!!
Well done Daniela

Fátima Half Day Private Tour from Lisbon
The car was very clean, the ride was great. The tour description specified "guide not included" so I didn't know what to expect. So although not "certified", Pedro was a great guide -- lots of local history, information on local agriculture, political environment, educational system, etc. And had us back to our hotel in Lisbon on time. Would definitely recommend.
A wonderful trip.

Fátima, Nazaré, and Óbidos Small-Group Day Trip from Lisbon
Portugal always impresses with great places to visit. So much rich history. Our guides, Hugo and Veronica were knowledgeable informative and entertaining. Should also mention that in the time of the virus, the trip was conducted in a safe manner with masks and hand sanitizer. Overall, a great experience.

Fátima Half-Day Semi-Private Tour
Pick up at hotel was on time. Due to cancellations because of the virus we were the only couple so we had a private tour . Our guide Miguel ensured we had an enjoyable day and was knowledgeable on the area . We had plenty of time to see everything before returning to our hotel . Very interesting tour would highly recommend.
Knowledgeable guide

Fatima Batalha Nazare Obidos Full-Day Group Tour from Lisbon
Miguel is very knowledgeable. He's very friendly. The time we spent at different spots seemed reasonable. The only thing is we had no choice of where to eat lunch. I had been to Cascais on a tour too and we could eat where we wanted. That tour guide just explained what a few of the reataurants' specialties are. It seems like Miguel might be getting a commission by taking us to a specific restaurant. It would be nicer to have lunch by the beach.

How to Get There

Fátima is 88 miles (142 kilometers) north of Lisbon. The easiest way to get there is on a guided tour, but it’s also possible to travel independently. Buses depart regularly from Sete Rios bus station in Lisbon or Batalha bus station in Porto. The rides take 90 or 120 minutes respectively. There is a train station servicing Fátima, but it’s located 12 miles (20 kilometers) outside of town, making it a less convenient option.

When to Get There

Fátima sees two major pilgrimages each year, in May and October. During this time, thousands of pilgrims make their way into town, and the city’s hotels and guesthouses fill up, making pre-booking a must. Every month on the 12th, there is an international rosary followed by a candlelight procession.
