8-Day Yucatan Peninsula: Small-Group for Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Ek Balam and Tulum

This tour was fabulous! Our guide Roami and our driver Carlos were exceptional - knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating and personable. They made the tour great! This tour had something for everyone and was an excellent mix of ancient and modern history along with cultural experiences. The staff at the hotels in Chichen Itza and Uxmal went out of their way to welcome us and introduce us to the foods and customs of the region. There was enough flexibility in the program to allow the guide and driver to adjust the tour to the interests of the group. We were fortunate to be traveling with a great group of people 7 tourists in total whose interests meshed well. If you love history, cultural experiences, a bit of natural history and learning - this tour is for you!

This is a 5 Star Tour if you are interested in one of the greatest civilization in human history. The tour included all of the historically relevant ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula in an up close and personal way. The Tour Leader Juan Carlos Molina is totally knowledgeable about all the details of Mayan Culture. Juan Carlos has many connections and was able to get tickets for shows and special visits for us saving time and allowing us to see important places throughout the Peninsula. If you want to learn about the Mayan Culture this is the way to do it. Bill Turner

A Mayaland hotel chain tour - 6 in our small group - temp was around 30c - standard of hotels (economy) were good - I liked the colonial towns and Rio Lag, Choc museum - the Mayan people were friendly - maybe too many Mayan ruins! - our guide I don't think interactive enough! - But a good tour!!

Is was a great tour overall. Our guide, Carlos, was very friendly and helpful. We had enough time to explore the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itzá and Uxmal which were amazing. It was our first trip to the area, so it was a good introduction, and we really want to go back! Hotels and food were very good, we felt very welcome everywhere. It was a pretty ambitious itinerary, we covered a lot of places. As a result, in Mérida and Campeche we would have liked to have more time to explore and do some shopping. On the other hand, the ceramic place we visited at the end of our tour could have been skipped we saw a lot more appealing things in passing. Our flight left at 3 pm already, so we had to miss the Tulum visit at the end. What bothered us is that Mayaland tours did not object to my itinerary early on when I could have still changed it. Several other group members had similar experiences. So I advise future participants to book the return flight in the evening and try to call Mayaland in order to confirm the itinerary.

If you are interested in Mayan archaeological sites, this is the tour for you. It is paced very well and organized in such a way that you have a wide variety of archaeological and cultural experiences. The small group makes the tour even better. Be sure to choose the deluxe accommodations. This extra all inclusive option is well worth it.

We were the only 2 tourists in this trip.Visited many Mayan sites and some cities. We had an unique chance to see how Panama hat was made. It is a well designed tour, packed but in the mean time, relaxing. Our guide/driver, JC, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Meals and drinks were included in the package, so we could only choose appetizers and main dishes from a set menu. The dishes of first night were not very appetizing but the second night, we were offered a set menu made for a Japanese tour group, and which was very tasty. Bungalows of both lodges at Chichen Itza and Uxmal were very comfortable. The only drawback was wifi connection wifi was not available in the bungalow at Chichen Itza at Uxmal, it was available but was turned off after 10 pm.

Highly enjoyed my one week in the Yucatan, especially after putting up with 3 months of one of the coldest and snowiest winters in a long time in Boston. My guide, Victor Gonzales was very knowledgeable about the sites that we saw and very attentive to my requests . He seemed to exhibit a real sense of pride in his part of the world and this made the experience all the more enjoyable. Having had an interest in the Mayan civilization for many years, I was very impressed with all the Mayan sites that we visited and learned a great deal on the tour. Besides the ruins we visited beautiful colonial towns, colorful market places, an incredible cave (Lol Tun) and saw some exotic animals on the boat ride on Rio Lagartos. The two hotels I stayed in were both beautiful and well situated for visiting Chichen Itza and Uxmal. My only real complaint is that Internet and WiFi access was spotty at best. We modified the itinerary a little and spent the last night in Chichen Itza instead of Uxmal and in retrospect this made a lot more sense since my guide told me that the ride from Uxmal to the Cancun airport would have been close to 4 hours and this would have been much too long on my last day of vacation. Overall, a fantastic tour that I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

This was an absolutely fascinating tour with emphasis on Mayan culture and sites, however, without leaving other aspects like the colonial towns of Mérida and Campeche, or the natural reserve at Rio Lagartos. Our guide was well informed, spoke Mayan himself and could tell us a lot about the history of his people.
