Must-do cultural tour!
JakeG
, Jun 2020
Absolutely the best part of my trip to Portugal! The entire day was thoughtfully planned out, Natasha was a fantastic guide and was full of interesting facts and had an answer to every question. We went to so many places we never would have seen if not for this tour, truly got the insider experience. This is so much more than a wine tour, it’s a cultural experience! We went to two wineries that offered two very different but equally interesting (and delicious) experiences. The other stops besides the wineries were equally interesting and beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone looking to see a side of Portugal tourists don’t usually see.

Disappointed

This was not a wine tour. We visited two wineries. At the first winery we spent 45 min being told about the owners African art collection. I did not pay to see African art in Portugal. Not once did any one talk about wine making or the grapes. It is September and Portugal is in the middle of harvest/ crush. There was not one word about harvesting grapes. Super disappointed and a real wast of money and time. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Portugal.

R8647 Sorry if you did not enjoy our product. You classified our tour with one star -" horrible". This is a wine tour, and more then a wine tour. 1.After your review we consulted the management of Quinta da Bacalhoa, to know what happend in the day of your tour. You spent ( like in all tours ) 10/15 minutes in the African art gallery, and not 45 minutes like you wrotte in the review. The art galley of Africa is related with the life of the owner of the wine company, is an important subject linked with the history/genesis of the company. 2. David, responsible for the company guides, also explained to us that the grape harvesting process, as well as the composition and details of the various wines and grape varieties are/were properly explained. This is the main subject that is always explained after visiting the art galleries. 3. Quinta da Bacalhoa was considered in 2018 the best winnery of Portugal in 2018, and the other one, one of the oldest and prestige wine companies. In JMF (second winnery), 45 minutes is dedicated to the harvest/making process of the wines. 4. This is more then a wine tour. It is a personalized tour that allows the traveler to cross the two bridges that connect the south zone to Lisbon. Visit one of the best markets in the world, cross the beautiful natural park of arrábida with breathtaking views. The opportunity to visit a tile factory with a local guide, where the visitors can get to know the 3 different types of tile manufacture. The pleasure of visiting the wonderful fishing village of sesimbra, one of the most iconic fishing villages in Portugal. Walk in a medieval castle and visit the splendid castle church decorated with 21 000 tiles. Finally, the traveler will still be able to see Lisbon seen from Christ the King, one of the most emblematic monuments of Portugal. Sorry again if you did not enjoy our product, We hope that on your next visit to Portugal you will have a better wine tours experience.

Ulla Thanks so much for your review and the way that you described your exoerience! Our team of Look Around tours are very glad to read a review and to see a very positive feed back by our costumers. This product is more than a wine tour. Is a close experience to Portuguese Culkture in diferent ways : cheese, tiles culture, medie3val and religious archictecture, forest, mountain and beaches and of course Wines. Rosario is a very professional guide, passioned by Peninsula the Setubal wine region. Thanks again by your vote!!
