Thinking of touring Lisbon? Diego is a NoGo!!

After reading all of the positive reviews on Viator, we were very much looking forward to our half day tour of Lisbon. We were very disappointed! With 3 people on our tour, we basically paid $230 USD for a 4 hour, fancy taxi ride😾. Diego, our tour guide made several racist comments regarding Blacks and Jews, didn’t even know that Lisbon suffered a major earthquake in the late 1960’s, couldn’t offer any local activities for a rainy day, and provided scant details about the few sites he dropped us off at to visit (he claims he had to drop us off because parking was too difficult and time consuming!). In retrospect, it seemed like we were given a local driver who spoke good english, knew the geography of the City well, and knew a couple facts that allowed him to fake it through the “tour”. To make the encounter even worse, he spoke very negatively about the Country’s military service people and the National healthcare system. We are seasoned travelers and can’t think of a worse introductory City tour we have ever taken anywhere. We are big fans of Viator and Trip Advisor and they need to vet this tour company to not allow this rogue guide to steal other tourists money when visiting Lisbon.

We truly enjoyed our half day Lisbon tour. Our guide, Andre, was prompt and very enthusiastic about his city. He was very knowledgeable about the history and took great pride in his culture. We saw all parts of the city but there wasn't too much walking. It was a great layover tour for us and will come back to spend more time in Lisbon!
