An Authentic-Feeling Experience

The tour crescendoed nicely, and felt very authentic. The fado dinner that culminated the end of the walking tour was the highlight of the night after a relaxing ramble through the Moorish quarter and Alfama.

I had just a few hours of free time in Lisbon and booked that tour. Dani was the perfect guide, taking us through the side streets and small courtyards of Alfama and showing us her preferred restaurants before we ended up at a delicious dinner in a Fado restaurant. Lisbon in a nutshell :-)

Fado show was crowded

The walking part of tour was Ok but the guide only spoke to some favourites. The Fado was in small cramped restaurant, we had booked 6 weeks earlier but were given the worst table. We could not see the show, but the guide had front row seats and was on her phone. My husband and I left half way through and sat outside. The guide did not check on how we were very poor.

Madelena led our tour by sheer force of personality, and kept us enthralled the entire time! Her thorough knowledge of the neighborhoods we walked through and her experience as a tour guide imparted us, not only with facts, but with a true flavor of the area and a history and appreciation of Fado. She worked hard to ensure that we had a lovely evening and even gave us her phone number in case we had any other questions or even problems. Our dinner was delicious, the walk through the neighborhoods merry, and the music . . . sublime. A guided experience, shared with newly met visitors, led by an experienced and ebullient guide enabled us to experience so much more than a trip up the hill ourselves.

Wonderful night out in Lisbon!

As a single female traveler I prefer to be with a group when out at night. I heard that a Fado show was a must so this seemed like the perfect choice. And that it was! Sofia was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and fun! It was a pleasant evening despite rain during the day it led to a beautiful evening. We saw great views and a beautiful sunset backdrop. The Fado singers were beautiful and engaging even though I didn’t understand the words. The dinner was nice with wine, bread, cheese, and a traditional cod/rice dish with salad or veggie pasta. Well worth the price! Keep in mind Lisbon is very hilly so a lot of ups and down walking for probably 1.5 miles or so. I might suggest a sign for the meeting point to make it more clear. Google took me to a different side of the hotel meeting point so a bit confusing to find at first. Alll in all I thoroughly enjoyed my evening out in Lisbon!

Tiago was a fantastic guide - he genuinely knew so much and loves his city. There were so many things he spoke about and went well over the allotted time which we were most grateful for. I highly recommend Tiago as a guide for all type of topics related to history, art, walking and understanding historic events and having dinner with as part of the Fado part of the evening.
