After meeting your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in central Lisbon, set out on the scenic journey to Azeitao. Admire the spectacular views along the Tagus River as you pass over the Portuguese Golden Gate Bridge, then continue south, watching as the urban landscape gives way to rolling hills and lush vineyards.

In Azeitao, make a stop at the first winery of the day, the region’s oldest cellar, which has been owned by the same family for more than seven generations. Follow your hosts on a tour of the winery, then sit down to sample their fine wines, including the sweet white Moscatel, and Portugal’s oldest bottled wine in Portugal.

Continue to the coast to explore the lively fishing town of Sesimbra, where you’ll have time to stroll the scenic beachside promenade, take in the views from the medieval Sesimbra Castle, and snap photos of the colorful fishing harbor. There will also be chance to enjoy lunch (own expense) at one of Sesimbra’s renowned fish restaurants.

After lunch, drive through the idyllic landscapes of the Arrabida Natural Park, stopping to take in the views of the Arrabida Mountain and the sandy beaches along the coast. Hear how the region’s Mediterranean climate produces a huge variety of fresh produce as you journey past olive groves, chamomile and lavender plantations, and fields of strawberries, pistachios, and thyme.

There’s just time for one more stop – at a family-owned vineyard nestled in the foothills of the mighty Arrabida Mountain. After indulging in the final wine tasting of the day, travel back to Lisbon, where your tour ends back in the city center.
Itinerary
Pass By:
25 de Abril Bridge
You'll cross the April 25th bridge (lookalike the Golden Gate Bridge), a giant and scenic suspension bridge that connects the north and south side of Lisbon. It was renamed after the revolution day (April 25th) that finished the Salazar dictatorship in 1974.
Pass By:
Lagoa de Albufeira Beach
The Albufeira Lagoon is a protected area on the western side of the Setúbal Peninsula. It’s a combination of pine trees, beautiful beaches, small lagoons (the deepest in Portugal), and birdwatching. It’s a popular weekend beach destination for locals and famous for water sports.
Stop At:
Cabo Espichel
You'll stop and enjoy the impressive Espichel Cape (Cabo Espichel). This spot is the westernmost point of the Sesimbra coast where we can see frighteningly tall cliffs. There are a few buildings here, mainly built in the seventeen hundreds: a church flanked by two arms of pilgrims’ lodges, a lighthouse, a chapel, and an aqueduct. Espichel Cape was a very important place for pilgrims.

Stop At:
Castelo de Sesimbra
You'll visit the Sesimbra Castle (Castelo de Sesimbra), an old Moorish castle (9th century) rising 200m above the sea level. Inside there are two permanent exhibits on its history, a heritage interpretation center, a church, and an old cemetery.

Pass By:
Fortaleza de Santiago
At the center of Sesimbra, you can explore Santiago Fortress (Fortaleza de Santiago) that was part of Portugal’s coastal defenses and a summertime retreat of Portuguese kings.
Stop At:
Sesimbra
You'll stop and explore Sesimbra, a small Atlantic fishing village. Sesimbra is about a bay surrounded by tall cliffs, turquoise waters, fine sands, and excellent seafood (it’s all uniformly delicious). At the downtown, we'll find narrow lanes lined with terracotta-roofed houses and a palm-fringed promenade.

Our tour guide was amazing! This tour was a wonderful addition to our 6 day trip to Portugal. Two friends and I decided to go on this tour to explore some lesser known cities while taking in beautiful views. Our guide made us feel very welcome. The wine tasting included some unbelievable drinks.
