In the morning, be collected from your Lisbon hotel and begin the short journey to Sintra while your guide provides an overview of the picturesque region.

First head to the UNESCO-listed Pena National Palace, a glorious confection of color perched on the summit of Sintra mountain, for a guided tour of the building and grounds. Then, enjoy free time to explore the mystical Quinta da Regaleira on your own.

In the historic center of Sintra, explore independently and pick up lunch (own expense), and then reconvene with your guide for the journey to Cabo da Roca, a dramatic collection of cliffs that signify Europe’s westernmost point.

Very beautiful and magic experience. Valter made our road trip very special and enjoyable. He is an storyteller, he explained about the history of the places we visited and gave us very nice advice how to appreciate much more the experience. It was a fantastic day despite the current global situation. A experience I will recommend and would like to repeat. Thank you so much!

A lot packed into the time available

Enjoyed our tour. Problems hearing what guide is saying when on fast roads due to road noise etc would suggest speaker at back of vehicle. The day is certainly busy and you may want to revisit some of the sites due to time restraints.

Best decision we made was taking a small group tour to Sintra. Claudia was exceptional. She was personable, shared the history of the city and was very patient with all of us. We went to The palace, the park, Calais and the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Whole day was wonderful. I highly recommend this tour for all ages.

Sintra Day trip

Our group of six thoroughly enjoyed the Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. The stop at Cabo da Roca was ok, although it was extremely windy, something you can't control. The stop at Cascais would probably have been nice in the summer time, but 40 minutes just gave us enough time to buy a gelato. No time to explore the town. Only comment is that we were in total a group of 8 and the van was extremely tight ( and we are average size people). Driver/Guide was very engaging.

That tour was the highlight of our trip. Our guide “John” Joao da Silva was amazing! He grew up in Sintra and is very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal. It was a very fun day!

Great tour guide, lots of walking

Warning! A lot of walking, up and down steep hills. If you have bad knees like me, choose your battles! The castle/palace was picturesque, but it was foggy when we went. Sintra and Cascais were worth a visit! Our tour guide was fantastic! Soo cheery and full of facts and information and tips! Great driver! It would have been better if she had a mic, or audio tools so people at the back of the van can hear. As for the van, for senior citizens, or those with bad knees, I wish it had a side step to get in and out.
