Meet your guide near the Praça do Comércio station in downtown Lisbon for your small-group medieval tour by Segway. Hop aboard the vehicle and listen to a safety and operational briefing on Segway use. Designed for any pedestrian walkway, you will be comfortable operating the Segway right away. Then, cruise back in time to discover Lisbon’s medieval-era districts, architecture, and top sights.

Follow your guide along smooth cobblestone passageways to the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon, Alfama. As you traverse Alfama, see medieval Sao Jorge Castle perched atop a commanding hilltop overlooking the Tagus River. Arrive at the oldest church in Lisbon, Sé de Lisboa. Built in 1147, learn how Sé de Lisboa survived many disasters including the devastating Great Lisbon Earthquake in 1755. Note its architectural styles and modifications from rebuilding efforts completed over centuries.

Continue onto Alfama’s other renown churches including the 18th century Convento da Graça and the 17th century Romanesque Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, one of the most important mannerist buildings in the country. Then, climb to Portas do Sol and approach one of Lisbon’s top vantage points. Look down and admire the labyrinth-like alleyways and modest squares. Learn how, despite numerous renovations from earthquakes, Alfama has been able to maintain its rich medieval design.

Afterwards, drive back with your guide to drop-off the Segways. Alas, your tour isn’t over yet. Peter was just great! We had SO much fun on this tour. We have been on several segway tours and his knowledge and professionalism was outstanding. If you haven't tried a segway tour I highly suggest you start with this one. It's a great way to see a lot of sites if you have limited ability to walk long distances. Be sure to wear flat shoes ladies. I am 68 years old and if I can do this, you can!

Segway are a great way to see a city, particularly one with the hills of Lisbon. Ruben and Maria were excellent guides. I could have done with going on the longer tour rather than the one of the old town as there were a limited number of sights.

We were only a group of 2, and were delighted with our guide, Manuel, I think. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and a great Segway instructor. The Segway was a brilliant way to see inside the mediaeval Alfama area, where many streets were too narrow for cars and buses. We were also given lots of insight into local customs and taken to a store to buy specific items we were looking for. Because we were held up behind a garbage collection bus, our guide extended our tour and didn't rush us at all. We can highly recommend this tour!

Paulo was our excellent host, there were just the two of us from the US and a nice couple from the UK. All of us had prior segway experience so we got to skip a lot of the tutorial stuff. The tour was great, but way too short. They need to add an hour to this. Alfama was wonderful, Segway was a great way to navigate the hills. Highly recommend Paulo, and the tour would be 5 stars if it was at least an hour longer.

A fun approximately 2 hour trip of the old city of Lisbon shooting up and down the stone streets. Our guide Joao was great and really new the medieval city.Very helpful in stopping for photo opportunities. We would recommend the tour for people who want a bit of fun on a Segway with the added benefit of not having to walk up all the hills while seeing more in less time. Much better than a bus by a lot shot.
